The human brain is as strange as it is brilliant. But it might be even stranger than we think. Somehow, as a single cell develops into a person, a mind arises out of nowhere inside our heads. It thinks, feels, and has a sense of self. We do not know how or why such a mind suddenly appears, nor do we actually understand how it works. Luckily, we at least have theories.
